Manchester Madness

This Saturday there was a bomb threat in Manchester, England at the famous Manchester United Stadium, Old Trafford, prior to the Premier League fixture of Manchester United vs AFC Bournemouth.  It later turned out to be a dummy bomb and was discovered shortly before kick off.  The Sir Alex Ferguson Stand and the Stretford End were evacuated while the rest of the stadium remained full.  The police and bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion in order to eliminate the threat.  The game was postponed and ticket holders of the game will be refunded and allowed to enter the game for free courtesy of Manchester United.  This will end up costing them 3 million euros.

This was the last game of the season for both Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth.  Players from each side were immensely disappointed but look forward to the rescheduled match.  Thousands of fans remained orderly while exiting following the announcement that they were allowed to leave.  Entering the day, Manchester United had an off chance of qualifying for the Champions League by finishing fourth.  They would need a win and a Manchester City loss however, Manchester City tied there fixture with Swansea City guaranteeing qualification for the Champions League for the citizens.  Bournemouth looked to move from 16th to 14th in the table following the match.
