World’s Youngest MMA Fighter

Worlds+Youngest+MMA+Fighter

The month of March is National Women’s History Month, and March 8th, is International Women’s Day. When people think of mixed martial arts fighting, the traditional image that comes into our head is most likely a man, but Angela Lee is bringing a new woman face to that term.

Lee has been fighting since she could walk. She comes from a family of fighters, with her siblings and parents all involved in the sport. Although her whole family has helped a supported her Lee gives the most credit to her mother for turning her into the person she is today. She says;

“Growing up with my mom as a martial arts instructor, and also the additional values that I learned from mixed martial arts, really shaped me into the kind of person I am today.”

At the age of 19, Lee became the youngest MMA champion. Lee fights for an organization called ONE, and is now one of the top paid fighters for that organization.

Lee brings a literal new meaning to the term “Girl Power” and is instilling self confidence in girls everywhere and says;

“Martial arts is so much more than fighting,” she says. “It really gives you self-confidence, it promotes a healthier lifestyle and definitely there’s the self-defense aspect. It’s a crazy world out there and I think everyone should be able to defend themselves.”

It’s very clear to see Angela Lee is a living legend and inspiration to the sport of MMA and to girls everywhere.
