End of the year for Lincoln East DECA

End+of+the+year+for+Lincoln+East+DECA

As the year comes to a close, so do many of our clubs and organizations at East. Yesterday, East’s DECA chapter held its final end of the year meeting and “induction party” of its new members and future officers. Current junior Lauren McCullough is going to be next year’s DECA president. Current junior Harley Edic is next year’s Vice President of Career and Development, Jeremy Sorensen is the new Vice President of Hospitality, Devan Beusher is the Vice President of finance, Madi Kiani is the Vice President of leadership, and lastly, Renee Perez is the Vice President of marketing.

“I’m so excited for state conferences like CRLC, State, and ICDC”. Says McCullough.

This year has been very busy for the DECA chapter. Most recently, some members attended the National Conference in Anaheim, CA. From East, juniors Edic, McCullough, Kayla Tamanaha, and Beusher attended, as did senior Sunho Lee. The students attended conferences and conventions with other students from all over the world. In their free time, they went to the beach, an Angels game, and to Disneyland.

“The best part of this trip was seeing Mr. Maw, our advisor, act like a kid again” says McCullough.

One member of this year’s DECA chapter, Kayla Tamanaha, will not be returning to East next year, and spent yesterday’s meeting reflecting on the past 2 years of her DECA experience.

“I think the most memorable thing for me in my years of DECA was being able to attend conferences with people all over the world, and being able to share my ideas with others about the ways of the business world, and seeing everyone’s visions for the future.”

All members of DECA are looking forward to next year’s changes in the business world, and making new memories with each other and others in the 2017-2018 school year.
