Spartan varsity swimming and diving competed in their annual Pack the Pool event on January 30, 2017. The Spartans routed the Lincoln Northeast Rockets, boys winning 122-58, and girls winning 147-38.

The East varsity swim and dive team competed in their annual Pack the Pool on Tuesday, January 30.  The Spartans hosted Lincoln Northeast in their final dual meet of the season.  The boys claimed their second city title in two years with a 122-58 win over the Rockets.  Junior swimmer Alex Petty set a pool record in the 200 IM, finishing with a time of 1:59.14.  The girls beat the Rockets 147-38 enroute to a 7-1 record.  The Spartan girls shut out the Rockets, winning each event.

Pack the Pool is an event created to encourage the East student body to support swimming and diving.  Pack the Pool records a large turnout every year, and is a meet the team looks forward to each season.

“Basically, Pack the Pool is an opportunity for people to watch swimming, and for us to have a student section,” said junior swimmer Elizabeth Jurich.  Jurich won the 50 freestyle with a final time of 26.58.

“We’ve worked really hard all season,” said Jurich, “so it’s really cool to see a turnout at a meet.”

The Spartans compete again at the Millard South Invitational on February 2 and 3 at Millard South High School.
