The Lincoln East varsity girls soccer team (L.E.G.S.) wrapped up their 2018 campaign on May 3rd when they lost a close game in the girls championship district game to Omaha Westside. The East girls fell to Westside 2-1 and received the runner-up plaque.

Overall, L.E.G.S. had good season with a record of 10-6 overall and 8-3 in district play.

The losses the girls had this last season were very close games, including a 0-1 loss to state qualifier Southwest, a 3-1 loss to Southeast, and a 0-1 loss to Northstar. In opposition to their close losses they have also had a lot of big and high scoring wins, including wins over Northeast (twice), Northstar, Grand Island, and Lincoln High, among others.

Looking forward, the Spartans will be losing over half of their varsity team next year, with 13 of the 22 girls on the 2018 roster being seniors. Six of the thirteen girls are going on to continue their soccer and educational goals in college. Losing half of their team opens up a lot of new spots of next years underclassman to fight for a spot.

With four freshman, four sophomores, and three juniors returning next year the Spartans should be able to still be able to have a capitalizing next season.
