La Roja Review

La+Roja+Review

On 12th street in downtown Omaha, a Mexican-style restaurant adds to the vibrant nightlife.  Roja successfully served several eager diners, as well as myself and my mother. I was served an appetizer of salty chips with fresh salsa and guacamole by a friendly, prompt waiter. The atmosphere, prompted by low lighting, a mix of red, orange, and yellow colors was mellow and relaxed, with a feeling of taking a refreshing break from a fast-paced evening.

The food was fresh and served warm. Plated on a large platter, some choice meals are divided into four individual wraps, plated with beans and rice. The chicken taco selected from the happy hour menu was served in a classic dinner wicker basket, served with chicken, beans, lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes. Given the option of corn or wheat tortilla, I was satisfied with my choice of the corn, feeling that the tortilla was enjoyably authentic.

Centered in downtown Omaha, within walking distance to the Century Link Center, Roja is an excellent restaurant for a bite to eat with friends after sporting events, or a sit-down dinner-date with a romantic interest.
