The Lincoln Music Teachers Association

The+Lincoln+Music+Teachers+Association

The Lincoln Music Teachers Association (LMTA) is a nonprofit organization that advocates for music education. As defined in the name, the group is supported by various music teachers throughout the city. Their mission is to provide music instruction, continuing education, and promotion of the arts within the community.

There are many benefits to music and no one should be denied the opportunity of attending lessons with private music teachers. These lessons can get quite costly and certain students may not be capable of affording them. The LMTA offers these students the chance to take private lessons at a reduced rate through the Music Outreach Program.

As with many  nonprofit organizations, The LMTA occasionally hosts fundraisers to support it. Their most recent fundraiser occurred on February 13 at Barnes and Nobles Bookstore at SouthPointe Pavilions. Various music students from different studios performed near the coffee shop from 10 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon. For that day, Barnes and Nobles donated a percentage of all sales made at that store for those who identified as friends of LMTA.
