Lincoln Air Show Held Up by Smoke

Saturday, May 7th was a beautiful, 70 degree spring day.  There seemed to be nothing that could go wrong weather wise.  The Lincoln Air Show was expected to be in full force, and the crowds were huge.  But around 1 P.M., conditions changed in one of the most unusual ways possible: smoke.  A heavy haze set in Eastern Nebraska, due to a wildfire in Minnesota bringing down smoke from thousands of miles away.  Although this would seem like something fairly irrelevant, for the Air Show, this was an awful circumstance.

As the afternoon went on, the smoke only got worse.  The fans who were eager to watch planes do extraordinary actions in the air were now unable to even sight those planes through the smoke.  The worst part for these fans was at the conclusion of the show, when the main event of the Blue Angel performance had to be cancelled for the day.  The heavily anticipated Air Show was a bust.

Luckily, the smoke cleared out overnight, leaving the second day of the Lincoln Air Show a success.  Those fans who were disappointed from Saturday got to see a fantastic show on Sunday.  Patience was the key for those at the Air Show, as an unfortunate chain of events lead to the limited Saturday show.
