If you’re someone who regularly plans on getting the flu vaccine, whether it’s getting it with the Flu shot or the FluMist, make sure you are using the one that actually has an effect on you. In other words, the FluMist has been recently found ineffective by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC). Yup, you read it, as of right now the Flu shot is the only vaccine to prevent getting viruses.

What is the FluMist? The FluMist is a shot free nasal spray flu vaccine which was created in 2003 at the University of Michigan, mainly aimed for children and needle phobes. Since 2003, it’s been the FluMist and the Flu shot that have been helping people stay away from those gross terrible viruses that can keep you away from society for who knows how long, but only one of those will do the trick now.

So why has it just now been found as ineffective after 9 years of being in effect? Until now, the FluMist has always been recommended for just children from the ages of 2-8 years old. According to the CDC, last winter 3% of people within the ages of 2-17 years found the FluMist effective. So why is the FluMist all of the sudden not working? Well, no one knows. Not even the CDC has came up with a reason behind the ineffective vaccine. It seems very unusual to have that answer, but until we find the reason behind the FluMist not working, the CDC recommends to use the Flu Shot.
