Tennis Looking to Rebuild

Tennis+Looking+to+Rebuild

Boys tennis had an outstanding season this fall finishing with an overall record of 26-3 at state. Sophomore Connor Vandewege finished his season in third place.

“This was a great season, there was never any dull moments or conflicts between us.” Says Vandewege.

Mason Williams finished second coming short of defending his state title from the 2015 season.

“It felt disappointing  being the defending champion.” Says Williams “Sometimes you learn more from losing, and you learn about yours and others character in how they handle defeat.”

Williams doesn’t have any plans to further his tennis career in college; he has mostly considered playing intramural.  However, he has recently played around with the idea of playing college tennis.  Looking back on his years here at East, Williams says he will miss the social aspect of playing tennis being surrounded by coach Hoham’s humor and advice.  Looking ahead to next year will be a rebuilding year for the team, however this will provide for lots of improvement throughout the season.

“We are going to be a very young team and won’t have much experience playing good players and teams however, we will definitely improve throughout the season.” Said Vandewege.
