East Girls Review

East+Girls+Review

The East girls basketball team recently just suffered a loss at home to Millard West on Tuesday, January 24th.  Before the loss, they were ranked 3rd in the state, and had just knocked off the number one team in state, Millard South.  It was one of the best games of the year and it went down to the wire.  They update the rankings every week but I presume the team will drop a couple spots but they have a game on Friday against Bellevue West which could help them boost their rank.

In the month of January, the Lady Spartans are 5-3 and have been playing with a lot of fire.  They have continued to run with their tall lineup because that is the biggest advantage they have.  Rachel Weber, Regan Sankey, and Alli Roh are all over 6 feet tall in the starting lineup.  Charlie Bovaird and Taylor Searcey have been starting at the two guard positions.  There are no seniors in the starting lineup but that also means that our bench has lots of experience.

It was around this time last year where the Spartans caught fire and eventually ended up winning over 10 straight games in which they won the state championship.  The month of January is one of the most pivotal moments of the season because it sets the tone for the momentum heading into the postseason.

Get out and support your Spartans for the next month because the team is playing really well right now.  This is a special season for both boys and girls teams so it’s a great time of the year to get out and support your school.
