Hi! My name is Colby and I am a junior at Lincoln East High School. I enjoy playing and following sports. As a rookie to the Oracle staff, I already feel like I’m part of the family. I play football for East High and love all sports in general. I am very passionate about what I write, and I intend to see views and values from both sides. My hero would be my dad. I look towards him as a role I should play, and a person I should model in life because of his pure work habits, and his effortless talents as a worker and a person in general.

One life lesson I would like to bestow upon you all is a story of when I was about seven. It was the Fourth of July, and I was so excited to celebrate that I decided to go and throw firecrackers with my brother and his friends. Now my parents said not to throw them, but as a rebellious seven year old I picked up one and began lighting it. Well, I was so proud of myself that I turned to my brother and yelled at him to look at me. When he saw that I had a live firecracker in my hand he started yelling at me to throw it. Being filled with instant anxiousness, I panicked and threw it straight at him. This resulted in a huge burn mark on my brother’s arm. So, moral of the story is that when parents tell you not to do something, it is usually for good intentions.
