The Lincoln East boys varsity basketball team is off to a hot 11-0 start with a number one ranking in Class A, according to the Lincoln Journal Star. The team is also fresh off of a HAC title. Defeating Lincoln North Star 60-35. The team is being led in scoring by Sam Griesel. He is averaging 17.7 points per game. After losing in the district final two years in a row the team realizes that this should not be the peak of their season with hopes of making the state tournament. With two months left in the season the boys look to finish it’s beginning season success with a run at the state title.

 

The Lincoln East girls varsity basketball team has made it through the winter break with a 8-3, which includes a number five rating in Class A, according to the Lincoln Journal Star. The girls are also fresh off of a HAC title win against Lincoln Southwest winning 41-34. This roster is full of state tournament experience. Regan Sankey and Alli Roh had heavy roles in the East 2016 state title run. The team also made it to the state tournament last year losing in the first round to Pius X. The girls look to continue its success with a state tournament run for the third straight time in March.
