The Lincoln East Girls Varsity basketball team huddle together at the start of the Omaha Burke game on Friday, February 2, at East High School.

This last weekend the Lincoln East Girls Basketball team had two home games, taking on Omaha Burke on Friday, February 2, and North Platte on Saturday, February 3.

On Friday, the Spartan girls took on Omaha Burke at home. The Spartans were consistent with the scoring throughout the game, scoring 35 points in both halves of the game. Their defense held the visiting Bulldogs to 19 points in the first half and 27 in the second half for the 70-38 win, moving them to 15-3 on the season. Leading the Spartans with 17 points on the night was senior Alli Roh, while 4-year starter Regan Sankey added 14 points.

On Saturday, the Girls took on North Platte, and came out hot. At halftime the Spartans led North Platte 34-14, but they weren’t done there. The Spartans kept pouring on the points while playing stifling defense, and when the final whistle blew, the Spartans had prevailed 74-32.  Regan Sankey led the Spartans with 20 points, and Alli Roh added 14 points.

The weekend wins took East to 16-3 on the season and moved them to a number 1 ranking in the state.  The Varsity girls have to big games coming up this weekend starting with an away game against Southwest on Friday, February 9, at 5:45, and a home game on Saturday, February 10, at 5:15 against Omaha Northwest.
