The Spartans have swam their way into another successful season for the 2017-2018 season. On the boys side our team went 8-0 on the season, were city champs, Millard North Invite champions, Millard South Invite champions, as well as Conference champions. Our girls also had an extremely successful season finishing 7-1 on the season and also took first place at the Millard North Invite, first runner up at Millard South and first runner up at Conference. The Spartans did not fail to impress at state with the boys finishing at seventh place and girls taking fourth. I talked to senior Emily Artz to get her take on her final season swimming for East and what to expect in the coming seasons.

“For me, the season was exactly was I had hoped it would be” says Artz “both the boys and girls teams had amazing seasons with lots of lifetime best’s for for girls and guys. There was so much improvement this year and it was so great to be apart of this atmosphere.”

On the topic of her favorite memories swimming for East Artz said,

“My favorite memory this year was winning the Millard North Invite because it was the first year East had ever one that meet and it was something super special to be apart of.”

“I think I will miss spending time with my team the most, being on this team since freshman year I made so many friends and it’s going to be extremely different for me next year not having them.” Said Artz “I’m very lucky to have gotten to spend all four years of my high school career on this team!”

As for what you can expect to see from the swimmers in the 2018-2019 season there is a lot of depth on the team we can speculate the next few years will be successful for the Spartans.
