“Actors are agents of change. A film, a piece of theater, a piece of music, or a book can make difference. It can change the world.” – Alan Rickman, GQ

On January 14, 2016, only four days after the death of singer David Bowie, Alan Rickman lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. Leaving behind millions of supportive fans that grew up watching his work.

Acting for over 38 years, with amazing films such as Harry Potter, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Galaxy Quest, The Butler, and the soon to be released Alice Through the Looking Glass, in his extensive list of work, Rickman lives on through his career.

Gaining attention of American audiences in the Broadway production “Les LIaisons Dangereuses” (1987), Rickman was nominated for a Tony Award for his performances as Vicomte de Valmont. His big screen premier happened in 1988 in the movie “Die Hard.” Rickman continued taking on many roles throughout the years, many of them witty characters, 1800’s gentlemen, or the classic villains.

But the most memorable role for many of the younger generations is, of course, the devious, head-slapping, gray character: Severus Snape. Starting from the first movie in 2001, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone to the final edition in 2011, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

His latest work and final act will be aired in the movie “Alice Through the Looking Glass” this year, as the “Caterpillar”. Rickman’s legacy and work will continue on to entertain the generations to come.
