Hands Up For Photography

Hands+Up+For+Photography

As feet pitter patter down the hall, some stop to take a look at the new photography pictures that have been hung up. They all have one thing in common, hands. “The concept was hands. We had to use harsh light, soft light (using a white soft box), do a silhouette of a hand, use flash, or use a pattern from a projector to put on the hands and take a picture.” Said Taylor Barnes, a Junior. She explained a soft box is “A white box made with white cloth. It has an opening where you can put objects, so you have a softer light to use.” This is one of many different techniques the photography one class uses. While ‘special effects’ are fun, there are many more things to do than just playing around. “We learn how to use the cameras and what all the different parts mean… different styles and structures and we submit about 5-6 photos every photo shoot. Editing in Adobe Lightroom is also something we’ve learned to do.” Each student could explore each of these various techniques expressing their own style. So next time you walk down the south senior hallway take a look at the photos these kids have taken, each picture is a little different than another.
