Some of the One – Act cast takes time to pose for a picture at their dress rehearsal.

Our one – act play cast performed a play written by William Shakespeare called, The Tempest.  This play is about the Duke of Milan, Prospero, being stranded on a remote island with his daughter, Miranda.  Prospero tries to restore his daughter to her rightful place using illusions and manipulation.  Then, this fairy named Ariel, raises a storm that brings in her enemies.  The antagonists are Prospero’s brother, Antonio, King Alonso of Naples, and Alonso’s son.  Ending the play, Miranda marries the King’s son, thanks to Prospero.

Prospero (Prospera in this production) is played by Madeline Dumler.  Prospera is the Duchess of Milan.  Madeline has multiple favorite scenes, but the one that stands farther out than the others, is the scene when Ferdinand and Miranda are working on gathering and cutting logs together and Ferdinand says, “…and I am you patient log man.” which ends with both characters instantly falling in love.

“When Jo says that it makes me laugh every time”, Madeline says.

Also, Joseph Gallardo played the role of Ferdinand.  He described the play as being abstract, because the actors have more fun, while having more creative, abstract thoughts.

“We used pieces to make a more coherent performance”, Joseph said.

When the cast performs different plays at competitions, they will have thirty minutes from the second one cast member starts setting up the stage with their set equipment.  Going over the thirty minute time limit will lead to point deductions.  In the end, their goal is to work for 1st place.
