Super Bowl LI Recap

Super+Bowl+LI+Recap

Super Bowl LI was a night filled with commercials, pizza, chips, and glory as the New England Patriots won their 5th super bowl title against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Feb. 5 in Houston, Texas.

As Lady Gaga was tearing it up during the Super Bowl LI Halftime Show, some were leaving their house parties to head home because of the 21-3 Atlanta Falcon halftime lead over the New England Patriots.  But as we’ve seen in almost every championship game in the last year, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots managed to score 26 unanswered points and score first in overtime to win Super Bowl 51.

Brady, who has played in a total of seven super bowls, earned his fifth championship ring on Sunday night, that’s most out of any player who has played in the NFL.  Brady threw for 466 yards along with two touchdowns to earn his fourth NFL MVP award.

As many saw, it was a slow start for the Patriots, as Veteran quarterback Matt Ryan put up 115 passing yards with one touchdown and completed 7 of 8 pasees in the 1st half to give the Falcons a 21-3 halftime lead.

Once Lady Gage was finished flying around NRG stadium, the second half began as Falcon running back Tevin Coleman found the end zone first, off of a 6 yard pass from Matt Ryan.

But then, it happened.  The Patriots would then score 21 unanswered points including two touchdowns from quarterback Tom Brady to force overtime, the first overtime to be played in Super Bowl history.

The Patriots would win the coin toss and be given the ball first.  With the fresh overtime rules the NFL have made over the past years, whoever scores a touchdown first, wins the game, and that’s exactly what the Patriots did.  The Patriots rolled up the field and running back James White scored his 2nd touchdown of the game to win Super Bowl 51,

and crush almost every human being’s soul in the world.

It was truly a game to remember.  As most won’t ever want to remember this because of the Patriots winning, it was still one of the best super bowls ever to be played.
