An Overview

All eyes were set on the GOP caucus debate in Des Moines, Iowa, where the possible new president may have been.  Almost all candidates were accounted for, other than Donald Trump, who’s had quite a spat with Fox News. So, what happened in this high stakes debate?

Many candidates took this time to further state their views, yet no new stances have been taken.   Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio were both the center of attention in the debate, disallowing other candidates such as Chris Christie, and Ben Carson to take control.  Foreign policy and national security were both key issues addressed at this debate.

Even though he was missing, Trump still captured the attention of the debate.  Other candidates commented on the fact that he didn’t show up.  Many, such as Cruz, opposed this and others, like Jeb Bush, made little joking jabs at Trump.

Overall, the winner of this debate was Cruz, and from here the candidates are off to New Hampshire for the next caucus.  With one win under his belt, it will be interesting to see if Cruz will continue to conquer or if another candidate may win this presidential race.
