Most of us at 9 years old are scurrying outside with friends making mud pies or enjoying the latest Barbie and Ken dolls; on the contrary, 9 year old Hilde Kate Lysiak has recently covered a homicide in her home of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.  Once this strong-spirited young lady heard of the homicide she raced down to the crime scene and began talking to police and neighbors to get the whole scoop of what exactly happened.  After Lysiak got what she needed, she created a video of the information she had recovered and posted it on her site: The Orange Street News.  Her exclusive almost instantly went viral.  

While some praised the little reporter, others criticized and were in awe of Lysiak and the graphic nature of the story she most recently covered.

Although she has gotten criticism, Lysiak spoke back stating, “Yes, I am a nine-year-old girl. But I’m a reporter, first. I report the news. And so long as there is news to report in Selinsgrove, I’m going to continue trying my best to give the people the facts.”  

Many agreed with former CNN reporter Daryn Kagan in saying “I’d say this is a case of parents knowing their child…”

Whether or not you think this is a case for parents to decide or not it seems that the pint-sized reporter won’t stop reporting the news and facts any time soon.
