Say Goodbye to the 108 Year Drought

The Chicago Cubs celebrate after winning the World Series.

On Wednesday, November 2nd, in Cleveland, Ohio, the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians battled to win the World Series.

Coming back from losing the series 3-1, the Cubs took the crown being named the World Champions.  The 2016 Cubs’ team made history last night at Progressive Field, beating the Indians 8-7.  The Cubs’ franchise hadn’t won a World Series in 108 years.  It’s kind of hard to believe, but knock that fact out of the park, because it is no longer relevant.

The Chicago Cubs took the lead quickly, earning a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning, then staying ahead in the sixth inning, with a 6-3 lead. Then thousands of Cubs fans had a quick stroke watching Jason Kipnis score and Rajai Davis hit a two run home run over the left field wall. After the eighth inning, the score is tied 6-6.  As the Cubs and Indians rally through the ninth inning, both teams couldn’t pull anything out of a hat, so they went into extra innings.

After the news spread about the extra innings, the tarp was pulled out onto the baseball field showing the fans a rain delay was occurring. So both teams go off and do their own things.

Once the tarp clears the field and the players take their positions, the Cubs show everyone why they are there to play.  There appeared to be a new team out on that field.  The Cubs score two runs to take the lead 8-6 at the top of the tenth inning.  The Cubs had all of the energy going into the top of the tenth inning. Only letting in one run in the top of the tenth, the Cubs ended up taking the World Series title, winning 8-7!

Many Cubs fans waited literally their whole lives for this!  History was made in the year 2016, and we will see what the Cubs will give their honorable fans next season!  GO! CUBS! GO!
