Lincoln East sophomore swimmer Marusha Ather has propelled the Spartans to six dual meet wins, including a 118-52 win over Grand Island.  Ather has made a swift transition from Strasbourg, France to Lincoln, Nebraska.  Ather is ranked in the top ten statewide in three events, including the 200 IM (2 minutes, 14.75 seconds), 100 butterfly (1:00.20), and 100 breaststroke (1:09.96).

Ather has been swimming for 8 years, but is in her first year swimming in high school, as her hometown in France didn’t have high school sports.  Her favorite event is the 100 butterfly, an event in which Ather improved her time during her past club season.  Although Ather prefers the higher competition that comes with club swimming, she loves being able to swim with her friends and meet new people.

“Swimming in high school has helped me like East more and make the transition easier,” said Ather.

Lincoln East girls swimming and diving is 6-1 in dual meets on the season, with decisive wins over Lincoln High and Southeast.  East competes in a dual meet at Lincoln Northeast on 1/31.
