2017-2018 Boys Varsity Basketball Season
The Lincoln East varsity boys basketball team have just recently begun their 2017-2018 basketball season. On November 30th at Fremont High School, they started off their season with a win of 64-41. Thus far we have played against Fremont, Pius, Kearney, Elkhorn South, Grand Island, and Omaha Westside, winning all games which brings them to an overall 6-0. The team is coached and led by Jeff Campbell. After having a very successful season last year, the players and fans are eager to see what this season has in store for the Class A team.
“I’m looking forward to creating a stronger bond in the locker room with my teammates,” says Lincoln East Senior, Gage Pohlmeier. The Varsity member says that the team is off to a good start, “being undefeated and all.” Pohlmeier says that as a team, there are a lot of things that they could improve on; transitions and offense and defense for example, as well as communication. “We won’t be satisfied until we win state,” says Pohlmeier.
Looking ahead, there are many games left for the Spartans. This Friday on December 22nd, the number 2 ranked team in the state will take on the Thunderbolts at Pius at 7:30 P.M. The Spartans will continue to try and improve as a team, in hopes of making it to the state finals.
