Expectations vs. Reality of the Southeast Corner of Lancaster County

Members of the Oracle Staff pose for a picture in the Southeast corner of Lancaster County.

Expectations:

The Southeast corner of Lancaster County is primarily farm land. So my expectations for this area would be a very quiet and peaceful environment, since the majority of the population would be most likely farmers, sparsely spread around. Especially in the winter time. Though, it could turn out to be a very beautiful place to see.

Reality:

After spending time in the Southeast corner, our group continued on into the Southeast corner. As expected, the majority of the area was farmland, specifically used for ranching. There were A LOT of cows!!! In fact, Nebraska produces more beef than corn, even though we are known for such crop yield. This area was sparsely populated with small, village communities, with the stereotypical abandoned, probably haunted, houses nearby.
