The East defense lines up against the Northeast offensive line on Friday, August 31st at Seacrest Field. East won the game 28-7.

The East Spartans have not faced the Southwest Silverhawks since the 2015 season when Lincoln East topped Lincoln Southwest 14-12.  On Friday, September 7th, the Spartans will once again take on the Silverhawks. “We’re not trying to treat it as anything special,” said senior quarterback Devin Beckner.  “Obviously it’s a big game and it’s a city game.” Southwest is coming off a 22-13 loss against Lincoln Southeast while East comes off a 28-7 victory versus Lincoln Northeast.  Both teams come into this week 1-1.

East is eager to build off of last week’s rebound win versus Northeast.  “We finally got the passing game going, got the offense going,” Beckner said.  While last week’s win against the Rockets was a good stepping stone for the Spartans, this week will be a tougher test.  The Spartans aren’t as concerned with their defense. “We’ve got a lot of experienced guys on defense that know what they’re doing,” explained Beckner. The point of emphasis will be “getting the offense moving” and keeping Southwest on their feet.  The Spartans will face the Silverhawks at 4:30 on Friday at Seacrest Field.
