HOSA’s first meeting of the school year
On Monday, October 5th the first HOSA meeting was held after school in the commons at East. HOSA, otherwise known as the Health Occupations Students of America, is a great opportunity for kids at East who are interested in pursuing careers in the medical field. The purpose of this first meeting was to introduce all of the interested members to HOSA and discuss the many opportunities that are available to students such as various camps and internships. Ankitha Turangi, president elect of HOSA, is excited to work with the officer team as well as the rest of the HOSA members.
“Things will definitely look different under the circumstances this year, but I’m excited to see HOSA members come together and work through it this year,” Turangi said. “Our conferences will be virtual this year, but the learning opportunities are endless.”
Alexis Smith, president of HOSA, also puts an emphasis on how Covid-19 will affect HOSA this year.
“Because many things will look different due to Covid-19, we will definitely have to think outside the box when it comes to events,” Smith said. “I think it will be a great learning experience for all of us!”
Despite some of these challenges, the HOSA officers and members are excited for what this year has in store. If you would like to get involved in HOSA here at East, the next meeting is on Wednesday October 21st, or feel free to contact Alexis Smith for more information.
