Should you watch “You” season 3?
Netflix released season three of the psychological thriller “You” in October 2021. Seasons one and two of “You” follow Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley), a somewhat creepy but charming man who is determined to get what he wants, especially when it comes to love.
In his search for his one true love, Joe Goldberg tends to go overboard in his protection of the object of his affection, even going as far as to murder anyone he views as competition or a danger to the girl he loves. In season two, Joe moves from New York City to Los Angeles, California and meets Love Quinn (played by Victoria Pedretti), the daughter of a very wealthy family, who is, by definition, the perfect girl for him. Season two ends with a confrontation between Joe and Love where Love announces that she is pregnant, which prevents Joe from killing her. Season three picks up as they begin their life as a family in the suburbs of Southern California.
Season three follows the young family as they try to make their dysfunction function in their new life. The season shows the couple juggling the stress of a newborn, in-laws, nosy neighbors, marital tension, and murder. The couple must work on protecting their child, their relationship, and their freedom in this thrilling and action-packed season. Love and Joe find that their common instability doesn’t quite mesh well with their suburban lifestyle and season 3 follows the couple as they try to navigate their relationship. Love and Joe both work together and against one another as they assimilate into their new environment.
“You” season three was absolutely phenomenal. This series does an amazing job of keeping the viewer on the edge of their seat. With all the twists and turns of this season, the viewer is constantly in suspense. This season makes the viewer question who to trust, who to root for, and their own morals. Star, Penn Badgley, says about his character, “Joe is just a metaphor for our inner fantasy judge, whether it’s fantasizing about a lover or fantasizing about punishing someone for the way they don’t love you. That’s who Joe is. I think, actually, in some ways he always feels the same to me. It’s just a matter of applying him to different and new situations.” Out of all the thriller series out there, “You” is definitely one that is worth watching, especially this new season.
“You” season three is available to stream on Netflix worldwide.
