Sing 2: Worth the watch?
Director Garth Jennings rocked the world on December 22nd, 2021 when his sequel to his 2016 hit movie “Sing” came out into theaters. “Sing 2” was an action-filled and heartfelt cartoon about a group of average animals performing for an average director named Buster Moon, played by Matthew McConaughey. After a disappointing review from a famous talent scout, Moon is determined to prove her wrong, with the same grit he had in the first movie. They take their show on the road to the Las Vegas of their animal world, Redshore City, in hopes of impressing the mogul of Crystal Entertainment.
The minute they arrive they realize their show that was a local hit in their small town has no shot of impressing the big bad wolf of Crystal Entertainment. On the audition stage the animals come up with a new idea for a show. This movie includes new characters, including Clay Calloway, a famous musician played by Bono. As well as old favorite characters like Meena the elephant played by Tori Kelly, Rosita the pig played by Reese Withersppon, and Johnny the Gorilla played by Taron Egerton.
“Sing 2” is jam packed and full of twists and turns leaving everyone surprised and emotional. The soundtrack is amazing and beautifully woven throughout the whole movie. Including many modern songs like “A Sky Full of Stars” by Coldplay and “Can’t Feel my Face” by The Weekend. The animation takes a huge step up compared to the first movie and is beautifully produced.
The story line wasn’t as strong as it could have been, but the music and sweet characters makes up for it. It is a fun and enjoyable option for a family movie night, with fun scenes for everyone to enjoy. The planning and attention to detail is very visible to the viewer and makes the movie that much more impressive. This sweet movie is definitely worth the watch and could make for a great family night!
