It’s fall, y’all! On Thursday, August 22, 2024, coffee drinkers from all over the world rushed to their local Starbucks to try the chain’s fall drink menu. The menu consists of the highly anticipated pumpkin spice latte, the pumpkin cream cold brew, and the iced pumpkin cream chai. This year the menu is expanding with not just pumpkin spice, but to iced apple crisp. At Starbucks, they are all about apples.
The apple crisp flavoring comes in three different variations: iced apple crisp non dairy cream chai, apple crisp oat milk macchiato, and the iced apple oat milk shaken espresso.
“I liked the iced apple crisp cream chai because it was like my fall awakening,” junior Gavin Foust said. “I love to see what Starbucks releases for their fall drinks every year, and this year did not disappoint!”
Originating as a popular customer customization, the iced apple crisp non dairy cream chai features warm spice flavors of chai, with a flavor that is reminiscent of homemade apple pie often enjoyed at fall gatherings. From the first sip of the coldfoam, the taste of a sweet juicy apple pie floods the mouths of all customers. A positive about the chai is that it is non dairy, being more accessible for lactose intolerant and dairy free customers.
“Lots of customers are liking the drink, especially the oat milk version,” Alexandra Barletta-Chacon, a Starbucks employee since March 2020, said. “Many coffee shops don’t have the dairy free options like we do, so it is bringing in more business for us.”
The chai is welcomed with two other flavors, apple crisp oat milk macchiato and iced apple crisp oat milk shaken espresso. Despite not being dairy free, both options still provide an alternative option to the chai, as well as giving a prominent apple crisp flavor. Starbucks also introduced the baked apple croissant, a great baked good to fulfill all of your apple needs.
Starbucks has created millions of drinks that have satisfied the millions of customers served each day. By spicing up the menu and bringing a twist to the regular fall flavors, Starbucks is continuing to satisfy every customer’s taste buds.
