The Lincoln East Spartans Varsity volleyball team played a home game against the Lincoln Northeast Rockets on September 17, at Lincoln East High School. The team fought hard throughout a very intense game, but unfortunately lost to Northeast with a final score of 3-1.
With both teams very determined to win, the score frequently went back and forth throughout the duration of the game. This resulted in the teams repeatedly switching who was in the lead.
“The most challenging part I would say is definitely the pressure because that’s one of the biggest things we’ve been working on,” said player Kennedy Johnson. “They came out to win.”
The team carried out many impressive rallies but ended up losing the first set 25-18. But they certainly didn’t let this stop them from pushing through and playing their absolute best in the sets to follow. A similar story played out for the following sets, where East’s score followed close behind Northeast’s. The Spartans managed to win one set, but in the end it wasn’t enough. Despite their dedicated efforts, the Spartans ended up losing to the Rockets.
“I’m excited for our comeback,” said Johnson. “We didn’t start out as the best we could’ve but we’re definitely going to have a comeback season.”
Don’t think this small setback is going to stop the Spartans from success. They are prepared and ready to continue their season and rack up more wins. To stay up to date on the girls season, make sure to visit their instagram via @ehs_vball.
