Licorice International is a local candy store located in the Haymarket and College view that offers a wide variety of 160 different types of candy from 18 different countries, and is open seven days a week. These candies range from all kinds of international licorice to Icelandic and Swiss chocolates.
After going to Licorice International many times and interacting with the staff, I have left satisfied every time. Aside from their scrumptious candy, the staff is extremely welcoming and helpful, oftentimes offering you a free sample. Some of my personal favorite products are the Swedish Bubs in various flavors including banana and cream and sour pear. These candies have a unique texture, that is extremely soft and fluffy leaving you with a sweet sensation.
“My favorite thing at Licorice International is the chocolate they offer, especially the chocolates from Switzerland,” junior Owen Lewis said. “It makes you feel like you are enjoying the chocolate from Switzerland and not Nebraska.”
Each of their products leave you delighted and wanting more. Their wide variety and unique types of candy may spark a new favorite candy or even just introduce you to a new part of the world. The list of kinds of candy featured are: American, Australian, Canadian, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Icelandic, Irish, Italian, New Zealand, Spanish, and Swedish. Not only are these candies sold at both locations but they are shipped to various places around the world and within the United States.
“At Licorice International we import and have items imported for 18 different countries, we ship to outside the United States and all throughout the United States,” a Licorice International employee said.
The history of Licorice International is not only captivating but sweet, just like the candy they sell. It started in New York but eventually found its way to Nebraska where it has called Lincoln home for the past 22 years. Licorice International is a hidden gem that features the most unique and high quality candy in Lincoln. I would give Licorice International a 10/10 recommendation for anyone that loves a great sweet treat and a local business.
