Mueen Mahmood is a name that has been going around Lincoln East High School for quite some time. From qualifying for the Heartland Athletic Conference swim meet, to winning prom king at the 2024 prom and homecoming prince recently at the 2024 homecoming, Mahmood has certainly made a name for himself. But he isn’t just some random name, Mahmood is adored by students from all around the school.
Mahmood has a crazy backstory as well. He was born in Toulouse, France, and lived there with his parents Sarah and Ather Mahmood. Mahmood moved to the United States when he was 10, and now he has become such a memorable person that it would be hard to imagine if he stayed in France. Mahmood is excited to make his senior year his most memorable.
“Yes, of course,” Mahmood said when asked if he was hatching a plan for Prom King, “I am going to win Prom King this year!”
Don’t forget that Mahmood is a big contributor to the Lincoln East swim team and swimming for Lincoln Select Swimming (LSS), which are both teams that Mahmood loves to be a part of. Over his years on swim, he has made many new friends and has gotten to be a part of a team that is there to support him whenever he needs them.
“[He] is someone who will always put a smile on your face,” sophomore Mia Crawford, who swam with Mahmood last swim season said. “I think Mueen is going to do great this year since this is his senior year, so he’s going to really push to drop times.”
Not only has Mahmood impacted students, but the Lincoln East staff as well. Mahmood creates smiles on everyone’s faces as he passes through the hallway and can brighten up someone’s day in just a couple seconds. Many of the staff love having him in their classes and mention how he helps create the happy school environment everyone strives for.
“Mueen is the epitome of teammate and hard work,” Mahmood’s coach, Emma McEntarffer said. “He is incredibly proud, not only of himself, but more so of all of his fellow Spartans for coming together to do something big.”
Mahmood is one of the most charismatic people at East. Be prepared, Mahmood is ready to befriend anyone he meets, whether it is at school, at swim, or in his daily life. Don’t forget about the classic Mueen fist bump that is a staple to every conversation. Mahmood does a great job at creating a welcoming school environment for everyone to feel accepted. He helps to touch everyone he knows and can help people become better versions of themselves.
