“Click!” You just submitted your application to the school of your dreams. The screen reads, “Congratulations! Thank you for your application! We look forward to reviewing it in the coming weeks!” Warmth fills your soul and a smile bursts through. You’re one step closer to achieving the post-secondary education you’ve always wanted.
The warmth fades after a few minutes with lingering joy. However, an ominous cloud rolls in: decisions. “What if I don’t get in?” Anxiety overcomes the body as you wait–week by week, day by day, minute by minute. It is a common experience, the nerves we get. I mean, how can we possibly wait any longer to know the fates of our futures?
However nerve racking, waiting for decisions gives us something to look forward to. Our applications are being reviewed carefully, so trust that you’re in good hands. Yes, it’s scary. And yes, it takes a painfully long time to receive a decision. All we can do at this point in time is look to a bright future.
Regardless of the decision, you tried your best, and that’s what matters. If you get into your dream university, that’s fantastic! Enjoy every bit of it. If you receive a less-than-desirable decision, the world will not end. You can choose to take a gap year & reapply, attend a different university for a year and apply again as a transfer, or settle down for the next best option.
Don’t worry about decisions now. You’ve done your best, you’ve clicked “submit,” so just sit back and enjoy life. And whatever the decision ends up being, stay positive and persevere. The world is your oyster.
For our Spartan freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, the best thing you can do for your future is involve yourself in the community. By joining clubs you gain a sense of community, purpose, and character, all of which boost your college applications, so take a look at the following clubs and consider adding them to your roster of involvements.
Spartan Speech
The Spartan Speech team meets every Monday at 3:05 in room 020 to discuss expectations for tournaments and coaching. Members come downstairs after school throughout the week to run speeches, get peer coaching, and feedback from coaches to ensure their events are memorized and polished for the tournament season. ANYONE can do speech, and everyone SHOULD do speech; it’s a great way to meet friends and improve your public speaking skills!
Feminist Club
Feminist Club is a place for those passionate about discussing feminist topics and current events. This club was founded to implement free period products in school bathrooms, so they spend time fundraising for products and lobbying the school board. The Feminist Club meets every other Thursday in room 001! Show up and support a better future for everyone!
