Whether you know him as a social studies teacher, a security guard, a temporary sub, as LPS’s unofficial weather man, or now an FCS teacher–Chuck Morgan is a legend at East and has left an impact on our school. Almost every student and staff member at Lincoln East High School knows Morgan, which goes to show how big his impact is on the East community.
During the beginning of his career, Morgan was a social studies teacher at East. Morgan decided to retire in 2020.
“I taught AP geography and world history for 25 years at East,” Morgan said.
Morgan never could quite leave East for good, so he subbed for two years after his retirement. Then during the 2023-24 school year, he joined the security team and helped maintain order at East. Morgan is a sweet guy, but he can be intimidating if you get on his bad side.
During the 2024-25 school year, Morgan spent his time as a sub, helping out teachers across the school, until this year, when he finally accepted a more permanent position at East.
“I was approached if I would be interested in coming back and teaching,” Morgan said. “I was asked if I was interested in the position and I said yes.”
Morgan now teaches three sections of human development and two sections of culinary one. Morgan seems to really be enjoying this new world of East, and his coworkers agree.
“Working with Chuck is the best experience of my life,” FCS Department Chair Anne Daly said. “He is so fun and he brings so much personality to our department.”
Daly is one of many staff members who enjoys working with Morgan, happy to have him around everyday this year.
“He is literally an FCS teacher at heart,” Daly states. “He’s such a staple at East High School and he's been in almost every role and position, everyone knows him.”
Morgan’s plan for the future after this school year includes retiring for real this time. He plans to travel the country, spend time with his grandkids, and go fishing.
“I’ve invested most of my adult life here so I really want to see this place succeed, these kids succeed, I just love it here,” Morgan claimed.
