The Lincoln East Varsity Softball team had a busy last week to their regular season before districts on October 5th and 6th. The Spartans had their senior night on Tuesday, September 26 at Doris Bair Softball Complex against Northeast and against Southwest on Thursday, September 28 at Doris Bair, and their last doubleheader of the season against Bellevue West on Saturday, September 30 at Doris Bair.

The first of two games was a five inning game with a run rule of 11-3. The first inning, the bats were hot score 9 runs for the Spartans. The bats started to freeze up hitting balls right at the defense. The winning pitcher was senior Lindsay Elliott. The second game was a quick three inning game with a score 14-2 with a long second inning scoring the bulk of their 14 runs. The winning pitcher was Madison Skiles.

Thursday’s games against the Silver Hawks was a high scoring game. The first game was a Spartan loss in five innings with a score of 18-9. The Spartans kept fighting, but the bats of the Hawks were too strong. The second game was another Spartan loss in four innings with a score of 13-3. The Spartans started off strong in the first scoring three runs, but their bats weren’t strong enough to overcome Southwest’s constant hits.

Saturday’s games against Bellevue West were well played throughout both games. The Spartans had seven hits and six runs in the first game and had a solid defense to back up their winning pitcher Lindsay Elliott. The second game was a run rule 8-0 in the sixth inning. The Spartans had six hits to help capitalize on the win. The winning pitcher was again Elliott.

The Spartans next games are Districts on Thursday and Friday of October 5th and 6th. The Spartans are in the Millard West District along with Omaha Central and Omaha Westside. Lincoln East will play Omaha Central at 2:15 on October 5th in Millard West.
