A Philippino mother and daughter weave beautiful bracelets for the organization Threads of Hope.

In the coming weeks, the DECA chapter at Lincoln East is participating in a fundraiser called “Threads of Hope”. The mission statement of “Threads of Hope” is, “We exist to empower families to create home enterprises that turn their vulnerable communities into sources of physical, educational and spiritual nourishment.” They are a nonprofit organization that is helping to create a better future for families in the Philippines. Every craft bought from Threads of Hope is handmade by someone whose life you are going to impact.

The DECA chapter will be selling these bracelets in the coming weeks, and is looking forward to making a positive change in their community, and helping people from another country.

Lauren McCoullogh a junior at East says, “Threads of Hope is a great cause to help families in the Philippines receive their basic needs and end the cycle of poverty and lack of education which can force children into prostitution and gang life. DECA is selling these bracelets to fundraise for our competitions and to give back to another country.”

Make sure to look for our DECA members in the coming month, and buy your Threads of Hope bracelets for $2 each. They are a great way to give back to people who do not have the luxuries that we have in the United States.
