Spartans Dominate Huskies in A-3 District Semis

The Lincoln East boys varsity basketball team was in action on Saturday, February 24 at Lincoln East High School in the Class A district final against Omaha Northwest.  The Spartans, ranked first in the A-3 district, beat the Huskies, ranked fourth, 75-41.  The Spartans improve to 23-1 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 3-21.

The Spartans were led by senior duo Sam Griesel and Jordan Janssen.  Janssen led the Spartans with a double-double, 17 points and 11 rebounds.  Griesel led in scoring with 19.  East pulled away early in the first quarter, leading the Huskies 37-17 at halftime.  Senior Northwest forwards Isaiah Jones and Will Adams combined for over half of the Huskies points with 24.

The Spartans will take on the Lincoln High Links in the district final on Monday, February 26 at Lincoln East High School.  East has beaten the Links twice this season, once in the regular season and once in the Heartland Athletic Conference tournament.  East will advance to state if they win.
