East High senior shooting guard Connor Riekenberg announced in September that he would be continuing his academic and basketball career at Nebraska Wesleyan University. “I liked the coaches and the style of play that they ran,” said Riekenberg. “And ultimately it was the school part too that helped me choose.” Nebraska Wesleyan’s play style alone seems to fit his skill set. Riekenberg mentioned he will most likely pursue a degree in business, but he is unsure at the moment. Lincoln East basketball head coach Jeff Campbell says part of Riekenberg’s decision was “because he wanted to be in Lincoln.” On February 8th, 2019, Riekenberg surpassed Benjamin Buhr (2002-04) for the most three-point field goals made in a career at East High. Riekenberg says the East High coaching staff has been supportive throughout the entire process, and he looks forward to starting his college career.
