Super Sweet Homecoming

On Friday October 4, Lincoln East had its 2019 homecoming dance. The theme for the dance was Candyland and this year was a little different from the years before.  Some of the things that stood out this year were the DJ, decorations, and homecoming royalty.

One of the most exciting things from this year was the DJ!  The DJ was a former East High student and speech competitor, Turner Thompson. Thompson, who is now a freshman at UNL, knew how to get everyone on their feet and got the crowd dancing. Being a high schooler himself just a year ago, he was familiar with what the students liked and because of that, everyone had a song they could dance to.

Another thing that was very different from past years was the decorations. Since the theme was candyland, the decorations were bright and eye catching. At the dance, they had a photobooth with big balloons, a huge unicorn inflatable, cute candy posters, and giant lollipops. Everyone had to get a picture in front of the decorations and people were chatting about how cute they thought everything was!

Even though the dj was exciting and the decorations were fantastic, the biggest wow factor was the homecoming royalty. For the first time ever at East, we had two kings and one queen. The homecoming queen was Kylie Dews and the homecoming kings were Michael Frandolig and Divith Rajagopal.

This year the speech and debate teams did a great job on homecoming. Everyone was talking about how great everything was compared to years before and people really enjoyed themselves. Thanks so much speech and debate for putting on a sweet homecoming!
