The 11 flags hanging in East’s main hallway to honor its veterans.

This Wednesday, November 11th, Lincoln East celebrated Veterans day in a new way: a flag display honoring the veterans at East and a wonderful PBIS video that featured Mr. Chuck Morgan.
The flag display consisted of 11 flags that were hung right across from the main office as well as a sign with the veterans name and the branch of the military they were in. Each flag symbolizes each staff member at East that is a veteran. This display was put up by the Lincoln East Student Council. The 11 staff members that were honored were Joyce Ely (US Army National Guard), Vernon Jiles (US Army National Guard), Angelica Kluthe (US Air Force), Dale Krier (US Air Force), Kirk Kruce (US Marines Reserves), Mac McCuisition (US Navy), Chuck Morgan (US Army Rangers), David Morton (US Army), Thomas Norman (US Army Airborne), Tom Stippich (US Army Infantry), and Steve Swinehart (US Coast Guard).
“I appreciate the flags in the hallway. It is an awesome way to acknowledge the Veterans for their service to our country. It was very thoughtful to dedicate a flag to each veteran at East.” Mrs. Kluthe said, US Air Force Veteran and Spanish teacher.
Another way East celebrated Veterans day was with a PBIS video that featured Mr. Chuck Morgan, Social Studies teacher, talking about his time spent in the military. The video was about 7 minutes long and was played in the third period. He went into detail about some of the friends he made and lost as well as his time spent in Vietnam. At the end of the video, it listed all of the veterans that we have at our school.
Overall, East celebrated Veterans day in a special way that really brought the East community together. Thank you veterans for your service and dedication to the United States.
