“Don’t wait for tomorrow to live for today.” Zach encourages everyone to live their lives to the fullest and don’t wait to hear you only have a day left to pursue your dreams.

“You don’t need to find out you’re dying to start living,” said Zach Sobiech. On October 16th, 2020 Disney released a new movie, based off of a true story called “Clouds,”onto Disney+. “Clouds” is about a boy named Zach Sobiech who was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer when he was 14. The movie follows Zach’s last few months where he decides to follow his dreams even with cancer. The movie stars Fin Argus as Zach Sobiech, Sabrina Carpenter as Sammy Brown, and Madison Iseman as Amy Adamle.
We meet Zach as a 17 year old senior in high school who has been fighting cancer for four years now. We quickly find out he is no different than you and me. He likes to make jokes, have fun with his friends, and he has a girlfriend. One day in class Zach’s teacher starts to talk about college and the future. This makes Zach think how life is short and he starts to wonder how he wants to live the rest of it. His answer was song writing. He wants to write an album with his best friend Sammy Brown. They write a song, post it on YouTube and it goes viral. One record deal later and “A Firm Handshake” was born.
Zach and Sammy’s most popular song is “Clouds,” which came out in 2013. Zach came up with the song while on an airplane. The song’s meaning is a bit more deep than just the white puffy things in the sky. It is about how Zach likes to think about what his future would look like if he could live just a little bit longer. The song got played on the radio and it even got #1 on the iTunes charts. News Stations even talked about how a seventeen year old with cancer was making his dreams come true with his best friend.
The movie shows how important his relationship with Amy Adamle was to him. After all she was the inspiration for the song “Clouds.” Zach loved to talk about what their future together would have looked like. We also get to see Zach’s relationship with his family and how close they were.
Disney did an amazing job on sharing Zach’s story with the world. “Clouds” tugged at heartstrings all around the world and left a lot of people teary eyed.
