Marvel Studios’ new mini-series, “Hawkeye,” is full of action and adventure. The show presents new characters, and brings back old ones to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and keeps viewers hooked, anticipating the next episode.
“Hawkeye” is the fifth mini-series Marvel Studios released on Disney+ this year. The show was released on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. It has a reasonable rating of TV-14 and is classified as a superhero and action-adventure. The series is based on Marvel Comics, it takes place in New York City around Christmas time, one year after the events of “Endgame” in 2024. The series stars Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton (Hawkeye) and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop.
The series introduces a new character, Kate Bishop, a young, rebellious, adventurous, and talented archer. Clint Barton, a familiar character is also shown in a different way from what we have seen in the past as he tries to balance the life of being a hero and being a father. In the third episode, we are introduced to a potential antagonist of the story, Echo, played by actor Alaqua Cox.
Compared to other mini-series Marvel Studios has released this year, such as “Wandavision” or “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” Marvel presents “Hawkeye” with a similar plot device, in that each series is a continuation of the characters development of their lives after the events of “Endgame” and how the Marvel Cinematic Universe is shifting into a new phase. The series also presents both new and familiar characters and actors. One new character that shows up in episode three, played by Alaqua Cox, who is deaf and an amputee in and off the show. She adds a unique take on what role a superhero or a protagonist can play. Similarly, Clint Barton has lost his hearing and has a hearing aid, he has to adjust his life to this change. This shows Marvel’s goal of trying to include characters with disabilities creating new and more diverse characters.
This series gives viewers a look into Clint Barton’s past and present life that has not been completely explored by the Marvel movies. The show that was released less than a month ago has a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 8.1 out of 10 rating by IMDb. “Hawkeye” is tied to Marvel movies and shows that were released this past year in a clever way by the producers.
Brian Kabourek said, “Some of the tie-ins with previous Marvel movies, and how they give some humoristic point of views of some of the things that have happened previously.”
The fourth episode of “Hawkeye” came out on Disney+ on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. The show gives viewers a new story to enjoy while keeping fans on the edge of their seats waiting to see how it will tie into the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As it gets closer to the holidays “Hawkeye” is a show to check out and watch while relaxing and sipping some hot cocoa.
