“Ted Lasso” Season 2: What’s the hype?
July 23rd, 2021 couldn’t come fast enough for avid fans of the Apple Tv + original series “Ted Lasso”, when the long-awaited second season was released. DuringFor the first season, the show revealed the first three out of their ten episodes on August 14th, 2020. Afterwards Then, one episode was released per week, the same was true for season two. Fans have come to love the main character of the show, Ted Lasso. Daniel Jason Sudeikis who stars as Ted Lasso, has made appearances in Saturday Night Live, We’re the Millers, and more. The show was written by various members of the cast, along with the assistance of Bill Lawrence. The show takes on a comical twist, sharing having similar aspects withto the movie “Major League”. Ted Lasso, an American football coach, was hired by the owner of the English soccer team FC Richmond to come coach the Greyhounds, ultimately in an attempt to sabotage the team. Ted’s fun, charismatic attitude, along with his lack of knowledge of soccer, makes for a season full of ups and downs of exploring life in a new cityplace, with different experiences and people.
The characters in “Ted Lasso” are a comical bunch who all bring something unique to the show. Brett Goldstein takes on the role of one of the show’s funnier characters, Roy Kent. Any time Roy Kent comes on the screen, the ears of younger children might need to be covered. He is known for his witty comments that often show no emotion, (and aren’t always clean), but this just adds to why fans have come to love this character, purchasing Roy Kent jerseys and other merchandise.
The show was brilliantly written, leading the viewers to be spiraling in all directions throughout the series. Predictions of what is to come seem so clear, but then get wiped completely off and written in a different color. This aspect of the show makes it very appealing compared to other shows that are more predictable.
The setting, tied into the background of the show makes it that much funnier. The concept of taking an American Football coach, to come coach a sport he knows nothing about in London allows for laughs throughout the entire series. The show was originally filmed at West London Film Studios, in order to keep a more “authentic” feel to the show. The show is also filmed in the home of Crystal Palace FC, Selhurst Park and Wembley stadium.
“Ted Lasso” is the perfect show for a good laugh, but also a show that keeps you invested the entire time. Such aspects are a rare combination, which makes this show and the Apple Tv + subscription worthwhile. The character development throughout the episodes and the comprehensive concept makes the show unique from others. Everyone who stumbles upon “Ted Lasso” can agree to a quote by Ted Lasso himself,.
“I feel like we fell out of the lucky tree and hit every branch on the way down, ended up in a pool of cash and Sour Patch Kids,” Lasso said.
