New Fall Menu Items at Chick-fil-a

The Original Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich next to The Caramel Crumble Milkshake. Taken at the O-Street Chick-fil-A in Lincoln during lunch time.

On August 28, 2023, Chick-fil-A released two new menu items for the fall season: The Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich, and the Caramel Crumble Milkshake. The drop shocked fans nationwide, because this was the first time Chick-fil-A released a new sandwich to the public. I decided to try both to let you know if the new additions to the menu are worth the try.

The Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich is the classic chicken sandwich, with a sweet and spicy kick. The sandwich is composed of creamy pimento cheese, pickled jalapenos, and a toasted bun drizzled with honey. The cheese spread is a combination of cheddar, red pimentos, and green chilis. You can order the sandwich with an original filet, spicy filet, or grilled filet.

The Caramel Crumble Milkshake is Chick-fil-A’s seventh seasonal milkshake. The shake was created with inspiration from the flavors that caramelize at the bottom of a blondie pan. It’s made with butterscotch flavors, Chick-fil-A’s handmade ice cream, and whipped cream topped with blondie crumbles and a cherry.

I visited the Chick-fil-A on O-Street, and was able to talk to the owner of the restaurant, Mike Stice.

“It’s my favorite sandwich hands down, and it’s best with the grilled filet,” Stice said. “I’m super excited that we have the seasonal shake. I think it’s better than last years, which was Autumn Spice.”

I got to talk to a student about the sandwich. Senior Jayden Chambers has worked at the Southpointe Chick-fil-A for two-and-a-half years. Overall, she recommends the sandwich despite the controversy and prefers it with the original filet.

“On social media I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews, and I think it’s because the sandwich can be modified in many ways,” Chambers said.

I tried both items, and was thoroughly impressed. The sandwich was a fall twist to the iconic original that everyone loves. There was a strong taste of honey, so if you’re not a honey fan, I would skip. Also, if you’re not into spicy food, order the original or grilled patty. The milkshake had great flavor, and the blondie crumbles put it over the top.
