The East Junior Varsity team battled Norfolk Panthers at East High School on Thursday, October 8th. They fell short of Norfolk with a 2-1 loss.
Spartans started at a good pace in the first set and finished 25-20.
East walked into the second set with pride but ultimately fell short losing the second set to the Panthers 20 to 25.
After time of reflection, the team walked on to the court. Spartan and Panther fans were on the edge of their seats. The Spartans gave a lot of effort, but they just made a few to many errors to win the set.
Spartans lost the last set by three points, ending the game at 2-1.
“[Our strongest point] was one of the last points when we gave it our all and we laid out everything,” sophomore outside hitter Sam Olson said.
“The game did not really go as we thought it would go, but we did put up a good fight at the end,” East JV Coach Yolanda Milton said. “We made it pretty exciting. In the end it would have been nice to fight like that for the whole game.”
The game might have not gone the way they wanted but the team has two away games against Millard South on Thursday, October 15th and Grand Island on Saturday, October 17th.
