Christmas movie poll between three movies voted by students on December 5, 2023 in Lincoln East. This poll showed which movie more students liked between the three.

It’s the holiday season and one activity that’s always perfect for cozy nights is watching holiday movies. There are many movies that are associated with the holiday season, such as How the Grinch stole Christmas, Home Alone, and The Polar Express are just a few big movies. These movies help put people into the festive mood, but can these three make me feel the Christmas spirit?

“Elf” (2003)

The first movie that I watched was Elf, which stars Will Ferrell. Reviews say that Elf is an amazing, comedic movie. As I watched Elf, I started to space out and become bored. While this movie is a classic holiday favorite among people, it wasn’t very up to my standards.

“Sometimes people get a little too attached,” sophomore Elizabeth Eliztin said. “Elf is a classic, and I really appreciate it, though.”

Humor: 2/10
Holiday spirit: 7/10
Realness: 3/10
Overall: 1.5/10

“The Princess Switch” (2018)

The second movie I watched is called The Princess Switch. This romcom movie was released by Netflix starring Vanessa Hudgens. Reviews state that The Princess Switchis set around Christmas time and is a great movie for preteens. As I watched, I tended to get lost as the movie was very fast paced and would go from one thing to the next within a minute. This movie was decent, but I wouldn’t consider it a Christmas movie. That being said, The Princess Switch is a good movie for friends or someone looking for a fun movie to cure boredom.

Humor: 1.5/10
Holiday spirit: 2/10
Realness: 0/10
Overall: 3/10

“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” (1989)

The third and final movie I watched was National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, starring Chevy Chase. Student reviews state that Christmas Vacation is full of laughs and a great movie. I had a fun time watching this movie. It is a very funny movie, with some jokes being a bit of dark humor. This movie was the best out of the three.

Humor: 6/10
Holiday spirit: 8/10
Realness: 4.5/10
Overall: 8/10

With these three movies, getting into the holiday mood is guaranteed. Despite the ratings, all three of these movies are good watches and are still recommended to be watched by anyone during the holiday season.
