Sower Books is a local bookstore inclusive to all ages located in the Meadowlane Shopping center. Owned by Tory Hall, they feature adoptable cats and continue to brighten the community around them by giving back.

Sower books is known for their outstanding support for marginalized groups and provides a warm and welcoming environment to all interests. They carry both new books and accept donations no matter the condition. Sower prioritizes local artists and authors while supporting cats in need.
“I think we generally try to promote inclusivity and togetherness,” year-long employee at Sower Books Tim Runge said. “We also value media literacy and the importance of reading.
Their cats come from a local rescue organization, Guardians for Felines, and are kept separately with a glass enclosure to protect from allergic reactions or hair around the store. They currently have two cats they are working to get adopted that are very social and available to pet and play with in their enclosure.
“We’ve helped adopt out 25 cats in need since opening and done food and stuffed animal drives,” Tim Runge said.

In late 2025, Sower Books set up areas to donate food outside of the store for people in need. They gathered nearly 2,000 pounds of food through their influence on the community and continue to be active in supporting those around them. They have also helped many cats find homes since opening.
I loved the feel of this store right when I walked in. I was greeted immediately by an employee which opened up the opportunity to ask for help or to talk about the cats. They have a wide variety of genres and children’s toys and books. It feels very inclusive and welcoming and definitely somewhere to hang out without worry.
“I have recommended the store to others in the past,” Lincoln East Senior Willa Hamric said. “I also think that the things Sower books are doing are incredibly important, so donations allow them to do more.

This is a very positive place to shop, look at cats, or just to visit. They are definitely worth supporting as a business and will continue to give back to our community.
