Spartan Girls Basketball Continue Their Winning Ways

This last week the Lincoln East Girls Basketball team had one away game and two home games, taking on Southwest on Friday, February 9 at Southwest, Omaha Northwest on Saturday, February 10 at home, and Senior night on Tuesday, February 13, against Norfolk.

On Friday, the Spartan girls took on Southwest. The Spartans had a strong game, beating the Silverhawks 53-40. The Spartans had a good start in the first half, and they kept up the pace in the second half to ensure another Spartan win. Leading the Spartans with 14 points was senior Regan Sankey, with senior Mira Patel adding 11 points.

Saturday night, the Varsity girls hit the boards hard and built a commanding lead against Omaha Northwest, going into the break up 46-10. The offense didn’t stop there, though, and the Spartans put up an additional 26 points in the second half to give the girls another high scoring win, 72-30. Some of the big scorers on the night were starting seniors Rachel Weber, Regan Sankey, and Alli Roh. Weber led the girls with 17 points, Sankey followed close behind with 14 points, and Roh finished with 11 points.

On Tuesday, February 13th, the Spartan girls started off strong against Norfolk on Senior Night. The girls were hot from the floor again and put up a final tally of 68 points on the night. The seniors put up 48 of the 68 points. Rachel Weber had 15 points, and Alli Roh and Regan Sankey each put up 13. Senior Mira Patel had 6 on the night, and the seniors went out big with a 68-20 victory giving the Spartans a strong and successful senior night win.

The Varsity girls have a slow upcoming weekend with only one game against Omaha North on Friday, February 16, on the road at Omaha North.
