Week 9 Oracle Power Rankings: Girls and Boys Class A Basketball

Boys Class A Basketball:

1. Omaha South (12-2, *4) – Omaha South is building up a nice resume with 6 straight wins. Lead by dynamic trio Skyler Wilson, Tyrece Griggs, and Jadriane Saunders, all putting up impressive stats over 17 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and defensive efforts with each around 2-3 spg. The Packer’s excellent display of teamwork will face a lighter schedule again this weekend before the competition will begin to look more like the postseason in the coming weeks.
This week: Vs Omaha Burke, @ Lincoln Southwest
2. Millard North (13-2, *2) – This past week kicked off with a 40 point win in which the Mustangs put up 90, and ended with a between the legs and off the backboard alley-oop from Jadin Johnson to Hunter Sallis, capping off a win against #8 Omaha Westside. Leading scorer, and 5 star recruit Hunter Sallis with 22 ppg will look to lock down, and perfect imperfections along with his team as the last month of the season is set to kick off.
This week: Vs Millard South, Vs #10 Lincoln Southeast
3. Bellevue West (10-2, *5) – 4 top ten wins in the state, and a win against #2 team in Iowa versus Lincoln (Council Bluffs), prove just how deep a team Bellevue West is. However many challenges still lie ahead for the Thunderbirds, as 4 star guard Chucky Hepburn, 19 ppg, 5 rpg, and 6 apg, looks to lead his team to knock off some of the top teams in the state.
This week: @ Omaha Northwest, @ Omaha Bryan
4. Omaha Central (11-2, *3) – The Eagles recently dropped their first loss in this new year Tuesday night, following a nice redemption win against Papillion-La Vista. This loss, coming at the hands of a peaking #3 Bellevue West team, but Central will look for atonement in a tough matchup this weekend versus #5 Creighton Prep. They’ll look towards scoring leader LJ Wrightsell with 20 ppg, as well as a very respectable 3.5 spg, to prove their might after a loss this weekend against a very tested top ten foe.
This week: @ #5 Creighton Prep, Vs Norfolk
5. Creighton Prep (11-5, *6) – What’s been an up and down season for a very strong Blue Jay team continues to follow such a script. With wins against many top teams in the state, followed by losses to below .500 record teams. However, with a team full of senior depth, and playoff experience Creighton Prep should not be worried as the schedule will lighten up for Prep, giving them room to correct issues before the postseason ramps up.
This week: Vs #4 Omaha Central, @ Kearney
6. Lincoln Pius X (12-3, *1) – After beginning the year 11-0 the Thunderbolts have had their fair share of woes these past few weeks, as they’re 1-3 in the past two weeks. This week: @ Omaha Northwest, Vs Omaha Bryan
8. Omaha Westside (9-5, *7) – Coming off a few hard fought losses to top 5 teams, Westside will only gain from such efforts, and are not to take lightly. 9. Lincoln North Star (10-5, *NR) – The return of 4 star guard Donovan Williams has been uncomfortable for the Navigators. With two close losses to solid, mid-state level teams, and two wins against below .500 teams, it will be interesting to see how this team adjusts to recent adversity. North Star will look to Williams putting up a state leading 26 ppg with 11 rpg for a double double average, and Abdelkarim with a helping 20 ppg and 6 rpg, to lead the Gators into a postseason run.
This week: Vs Lincoln Southwest, @ Millard South

Lincoln Southeast (10-5, *NR) – The Knights are building a nice win streak with 3 in a row, fueled by star guard Ajantae Hogan’s latest show in a 31 point, 10 rebound effort in a Tuesday night win against Grand Island.
